We welcome everyone to Mt. Pleasant UMC Preschool! We are excited to announce that
Mrs. Brenda Reyburn and Mrs. Ashley Burris-Lail will be teaching the Four’s Class this year.
Brenda comes with years of experience working in our preschool. She’s taught the four’s class and most recently the 3’s class. Ashley joined our team last year and has become an asset to our program. She is a hard worker and is always willing to accept new responsibilities. Miss Taylor Boswell will be joining Mrs. Barb in assisting the three’s class. Taylor was the assistant teacher in the TTH four’s class last year. She does a great job interacting with the children and is currently taking online classes as a junior at
Appalachian, to become a teacher. Our two’s class will be Mrs. Jennifer and Mrs. Tracy again. They both do an excellent job in this class. We are looking forward to a new and exciting year with this group of ladies!
Mt Pleasant Preschool has been blessed with the leadership and guidance that Mrs. Carol has bestowed
upon us for so many years. She has been a part of the preschool from the beginning and we are lucky
to have learned so much from her. We will always cherish the many talents she shared with us!
Thanks Mrs. Carol and we wish you the best! We are also sad to say that Mrs. Susan and Mrs. Katie have both decided to take this year off from teaching. We are going to miss them,
but hope they have a safe and healthy year!
Open House will be held in the Pavilion next to the playground. The staff will be available with a
video of their classroom for all to see. Only parents/guardians are invited to attend with their
preschooler. We ask that you do not bring siblings unless they are also attending preschool. Masks
will be required by all adults including staff. We will be performing temperature checks by all
entering the Pavilion. Please be aware, we will be practicing social distancing. Each parent will have
a fifteen-minute time slot to check out the classroom video and ask any questions to the staff. We will
be disinfecting after each fifteen-minute meeting to prepare for the next family.
The children will spend the next few weeks getting to know their teachers and classmates.
We have a lot of new students this year and welcome them and their families to our community
and the life of Mt. Pleasant Church.
Our staff have worked hard to prepare their classrooms for the children this year. We plan to do our
part in making sure that the children are ready for kindergarten when that time comes. We welcome
back our staff, who have been with the preschool for many years.
We are still working with the Catawba County Smart Start Early Childhood support team to provide the children of this preschool with the best environment and resources in which they can learn and develop. They also provide CPR/First Aid training to the staff. We have work diligently with them to have the most updated information about preschool/daycare programs concerning the Coronavirus. They will be there to provide us with any advice or actions needed.
Once again, the preschool is joining Harris Teeter’s Together in Education program to help raise funds for our school. It’s easy and it’s FREE. Jessica Little is our parent representative on the Preschool Board. Jessica has a child that graduated from Mt. Pleasant Preschool and another currently attending Mt Pleasant Preschool. She will be at all preschool board meetings and will share any concerns from parents at that time.
Each year, we ask for donations of supplies to start off the preschool year. I am providing a list of supplies; if you would like to send some in, it would be greatly appreciated!
Package of white copy paper
Playdough (we go through a lot during cold/flu season)
Bags of sand for playground
Baby wipes Clorox wipes
We also have a wish list on Amazon. The list will be shared on our Preschool Facebook page and on this website. Please continue to keep the staff and children in your prayers as we proceed forward in the upcoming Preschool year!
